My Story

On Monday, May 31, 2010, I embarked on a mission to lose weight and to get into the best shape of my life for my wedding. For a long time that mission was a success until life started getting stressful and food became a way to cope with that stress. To make a long story short, the mission fell short before my wedding day was here. And to make things even worse, I stopped eating healthy, exercising, and blogging for over two years. I now have a very beautiful wife and baby boy but my health is still crap. So to turn things around, I am brining back "The Heavy Man" and the "Mission to Healthy."

Day #36 - Once and A While Won't Hurt

It is 11:16pm on Mon, July 5, 2010 and I just arrived home from a long but fun 4th of July weekend. I managed to go the whole weekend keeping my urges and temptations under control. There was a ton of food that was made available this weekend and some how I came out of it without gorging myself to the point that I couldn't move. I'll tell you what, in the past, it would have been all over from the second I step foot in side the house. I would have eaten junk food for snacks, at least 6 cheese burgers during the course of a day, tons of side dishes, and I would have probably put down at least 2 2Liters of Coke by myself. But some how I found a way to keep my food consumption under control. Of course it helps to have a bunch of people on your side helping you get through the weekend. Not to mentioned, I was constantly moving in very hot weather. I was keeping so busy that I also managed to lose about 3 pounds this weekend in the process.

Right before we left to drive home, my fiance and I treated her niece to dinner. We stopped at Friendly's on our way back to her house. At this point of the day, I had managed to have 21 points left for dinner. We were moving around so much today that we really didn't sit down to have a full meal at all until dinner. Anyway, I started my dinner with a nice steak, rice, and broccoli meal and ended off strong. I came to the conclusion tonight, that in order to keep sane during my new healthy life style, it wouldn't hurt to indulge my insane cravings every once and a while. I have heard from a few different sources, as well as read up on it, that it is okay to indulge yourself every now and then. I am human, and I will get cravings from time to time that will only get worse the more I try to suppress them. So, eating an unhealthy dish every once and a while helps to suppress that craving, making it easier for me to concentrate on sticking to a healthy life style. The dish I had tonight was a Rieces Pieces Ice Cream Sundae. Now, I have gone #35 Days without straying from my mission at all and I did so well this weekend that I decided to treat myself to an unhealthy ice cream sundae. Let me share this with you all, it may have tasted great but my stomach is in knots because it is not used to having this much sugar and crap in it anymore. This can also be a great tool for reminding yourself on how you used to feel after every meal before the mission started. I know for myself, I will be back to eating healthy again starting tomorrow morning.

With that being said, let's get to the details of the day:

Meals of the Day (The Heavy Man = 40 Points)
(I am currently following the Weight Watchers Points System)

Early Afternoon - I slept in this morning because I was so worn out from yesterday. I had a small cheese burger with a side of fruit  = Points 12
Late Afternoon - Grilled Chicken Sandwich from Chik-Fil-A = Points 5
Snack - Fruit cup = Points 2
Dinner - 1 serving of steak tips, with a side of rice and broccoli = Points 11
Dessert - Rieces Pieces Ice Cream Sundae (Friendly's) = I couldn't find anything that told me how many points a sundae like this was. So I am going to say that it took up the remaining 10 points I had for the day plus some activity points that I have earned during the course of the week. One bad meal every once and a while won't hurt.

Total Points Eaten Today = 40 Points (Plus whatever the sundae counts for)

Exercise

I was honestly so busy this weekend helping setup, cooking, breaking down, and cleaning up for the party that I really didn't have any time to workout. I also did not have a gym available to me and it was dangerously hot to run out side. However, because I was constantly moving this weekend, I managed to lose 3 pounds, On a Holiday Weekend!!!! Tomorrow I will back into the swing of working out and eating great.

Day #36 - Weigh-In = 276.2 lbs (I managed to lose 3 lbs this weekend)
