I was driving to the gym with my fiancee just about 2 hours ago and she said something very interesting to me. She told me she can understand what is going on in my head more through reading my blog then she can some times by just talking to me. She then went onto to tell me that she likes knowing what I am thinking and how I am feeling because it gives her a sense of what I am going through when I am attempting to get in shape. I think the conversation I had with her brings up a great point. I have always had trouble sharing my thoughts with anyone. Since I have started this blog, I have been able to express what I am feeling on the inside a lot easier then I would be able to just talking directly to someone. I think that was another problem that I had when trying to lose weight in the past. I would try to take on losing weight by myself and would get angry when I kept on failing. Here is the problem with that, I did not tell anyone what I was feeling, I would just give up. This is yet another reason why building a support system is very important when trying to accomplish a goal such as this. You constantly need reminders on how well your are doing and to keep on going. Nothing is better then getting a compliment from someone else. I know it keeps me motivated.
While at the gym, I felt a little out of place in the weights section. I haven't lifted a weight in a long time and I knew that I was in for a rough night attempting to execute my first upper body workout since...... crap I don't remember. Anyway, everyone there was in their young 20's and they were lifting what I can only describe as a ton of weight. I thought to myself I will get there eventually but until then let's take it nice and easy. I am going to take this one step at a time. When I need motivation during an exercise session, I always vision what I will look and feel like when I reach my goal. It makes me want to try harder.
With that being said, let's get to the details of the day:

Great blog Chris!!! Coming to terms with your feelings is the best way to get healthy inside and out. Love you Mom
ReplyDeleteHi, it's your cousin again. You're doing a wonderful job...keep it up. Make sure you take your measurements...whether you post them or not is up to you. You may get to a point where not too much weight is lost on a weekly basis, but your measurements will show it. They will inspire you also. It'll give you satisfaction when you see the results on the measuring tape. I'm following your every step...keep up the good work. You're doing a great job! Brenda
ReplyDeleteBrenda,
ReplyDeleteThank you for following and supporting me on my mission. That is a really great idea with taking my measurements. I know in the past when I would hit a plateau it would make me frustrated because I wasn't seeing any results on the scale. If I see that my measurements are improving it will keep me motivated. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing more comments and advice.
Chris
Thanks Mom!!! Love you too!!
